Fire on the Hill...
And there's a fire in the skies
40 miles away and I have ashes in my eyes
While all the flames are drawing near
Within hours I will face my biggest fear.

While our town is turning black
We all worry for the resource that we lack
And as the sky is growing dark
Hard to believe this all started with a spark.

Two hundred thousand acres now
Many homes are lost, and we can't imagine how
Though we're fighting back the tears
We live amongst the biggest fire in years.

But this fire on the hill
It won't break down our will
And we will pull together still
Despite this fire on the hill.

We pack our bags and grab the dogs
Down the way horses flee from falling logs
Trailers lined up in the street
All the children running in bare feet.

Now it's time we should be strong
Rebuild our hope, our town the place where we belong
And thanks to those who fought the fire
Pride and Courage never lacked desire.

And one day when we look back
We'll forget the numbers and the hardened facts
But we'll know we did our best
When life and death had put us to the test.

But this fire on the hill
It won't break down our will
And we will pull together still
Despite this fire on the hill.

    We will survive...
    ...this fire on the hill.
